The Golden Boot winner will soon be back in a Sea Robbers side that is at the top of the record and has won their last four games.

Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer is optimistic with the club’s top scorer, Gabadinho Mhango, who will soon be back in action.

Mhango has missed the Buccaneers’ last four games after sustaining a groin injury in the game against Stellenbosch FC in late October.

He also ruled it out of recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches for his Malawi national team.

Mhango was the Premier Soccer League (PSL) joint top scorer last season with 16 goals.

However, in his absence, the Pirates won all four games, including Saturday night’s 2-1 victory over SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Zinnbauer provided an update on Mhango’s fitness.

“I hope to have it next week. We have a little time, we have a full week and I hope we get it back,” the German told SuperSport TV.

Zinnbauer was referring to the Pirates’ next game, against Baroka FC next Saturday afternoon, November 28, at their base of operations in Soweto.

There was also more good news for Bucs fans regarding the return of Bongani Sam’s injury. There is still a debut in the pipeline for new Democratic Republic of Congo striker Jean-Marc Makusu.

“He (Mhango) is not the only player,” Zinnbauer said, “we have Sam coming back, with Jean-Marc we have a new player. We have other injured players who are coming back closer to full conditioning. Maybe in a week, we have all of them. the players available, I hope ”.

Another player just returned from injury, Tshegofatso Mabasa, came off the bench to get the Pirates winner against SuperSport after Zakhele Lepasa previously tied via penalty spot.

The only player who will be out for a while longer is Thembinkosi Lorch – Pirates confirmed earlier this week that he would be out for around five weeks.
