A police sergeant was arrested for alleged corruption, Western Cape Police said Saturday.
The 37-year-old officer, attached to Bellville South Visible Policing, was captured during an operation by the provincial anti-corruption unit on Friday night.
“The officer reportedly approached the member who agreed to bring a dagga and a cell phone to a prisoner in the cells,” said police spokesman Capt. FC van Wyk.
“The member received R300 for his services. The member was arrested. The dagga, cell phone and marked money were found in his possession.”
He is expected to appear in Bellville Magistrates Court on Monday.
