JOHANNESBURG – The Undoing Tax Abuse Organization has called on the chairman of the state capture commission, Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo, to act decisively against former President Jacob Zuma.

On Thursday, Zuma withdrew from the commission shortly after Zondo announced his decision not to withdraw from the commission.

• Zuma abandons state capture investigation without permission

The former president filed a request earlier this week for Zondo to recuse himself from the state’s arrest commission of inquiry.

However, Zondo rejected the request, denying Zuma’s claims that they were friends and that the commission was biased against the former statesman.

• Zondo dismisses Zuma’s request for recusal

Stefanie Fick from Outa said that Zuma’s conduct was disrespectful to the commission chairman and the rest of the country.

“For a leader in South Africa to simply walk away, the leader by the way who named the person, because he was not happy with the trial is really unacceptable.”

Zuma’s legal team has indicated that they will take Zondo’s judgment under review and will also file a complaint with the Judicial Services Commission.
