Liverpool gave a big boost when Virgil van Dijk returned to training

Liverpool have gotten a big boost from Virgil van Dijk.

The Daily Mail has reported that the Dutchman has reported to his duties at a time when the Reds see few numbers.

Jurgen Klopp has only one senior defender available for the Leicester City clash, and that’s Joel Matip, very prone to injury. Basically it doesn’t look good.

We have Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams available for selection, although Williams was withdrawn from England U21 roles with hip pain. One of those two will have to take the place alongside Matip and hope to keep Leicester’s power front line at bay.

Could we see Virgil van Dijk again sooner than expected? According to MailSport, he’s back to light recovery training as he begins to get over his knee surgery.

The Dutchman is back in “low-impact training,” the article said, which feels like he’s getting things done ahead of schedule. If anyone can shake off his terrible injury and return to the Premier League earlier than expected, it will be Van Dijk.

After his low-impact training period, van Dijk will be able to speed things up and begin the second phase of his recovery.

Since the former Southampton player joined Liverpool in January 2018, he has played 130 games, more than he has played for any other club. That shows how important Van Dijk has been to the Reds and to Klopp, who was incredibly reluctant to drop the star.

Of all the defenders, van Dijk is the man around whom the team was built. The Dutchman was the first real star to join the team and helped create that iron column that is based on Alisson and Fabinho.

Liverpool are not the same team without him, and we’ve seen him since his ACL injury.
