Cape Town woman robbed and killed while waiting for transport home from work

A 31-year-old woman was killed after she was robbed while waiting for a ride home in Epping 2, Elsies River on Friday.

The woman is alleged to have been waiting for an Uber to take her home after she finished her night shift, when unknown suspects robbed her and shot her.

Police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyk said the incident occurred around 06:09, on Kinghall Avenue.

Bonteheuwel Ward Councilor Angus McKenzie identified the woman as Lauren Braiden, a mother of two.

No arrests yet

“My condolences to her fiance Ashley, her children and her family,” she said.

“I spoke with Ashley this morning and will support the family through this difficult time,” added McKenzie.

No arrests had been made, however a murder case was opened for investigation.
