e.tv has announced that its full-length daily drama City of rhythm it will come to an end. The final episode will air on July 16, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. on e.tv (DStv 194).
The show wowed the viewer for over a decade as it took South Africans on the journey of authentic storytelling while simultaneously launching the careers of many unknown faces and some now famous musicians.
The series consistently ranked as one of the top 10 most-watched telenovelas in the country and peaked at nearly 5.2 million viewers this year.
The decision to dismantle City of rhythm It is part of a commercial strategy, which includes reviewing the on-air life cycle of a program, reads the channel’s official statement.
“e.tv continues to look forward to fulfilling its mandate to produce exceptional and relevant local content, and the production has successfully fulfilled its part of the obligation for the past 13 years. Rhythm city it has secured its place in the e.tv history books and has left a mark of legacy. The next few months of the show will have a strong focus on finalizing prominent story lines, some of which, like the introduction of Pule, the long-lost adopted son of the Suffocates, will take fan favorites back to when it all began.
Another local drama will replace City of rhythm.
