Mobile operator MTN will offer its Black Friday 2020 deals for an extended period of two weeks starting on November 20.
The group said it will offer offers to new and existing customers covering prepaid, contract, enterprise / business and mobile money (MTN MoMo) products until December 9.
“We understand that what people need now, perhaps more than ever, are real money-saving bargains that could offer some relief and a better way to stay connected to family, friends and work,” said Jacqui O’Sullivan, Executive of Corporate Affairs at MTN SA.
“While lockdown restrictions have been relaxed a bit in recent months, we still feel it would be better to extend the shopping period to reduce the number of shoppers in stores at any given time.
“This, of course, is beyond continuing to ensure that all other appropriate security measures are in place in the store to protect customers and staff during this busier than usual shopping period.”
The most important offers are described in more detail below.
MTN MoMo
MTN said its mobile money subscribers can get a 1GB Rush Hour package for just R1.
The group said that customers can also get an 80% discount on a variety of other MTN daily and weekly data packages during the Black Friday period, by dialing * 151 # or using the MTN MoMo app.
Prepaid offers
MTN said PayAsYouGo customers can buy a MiFi router that comes with 50GB of promotional data for R499 just one time.
Customers with their own existing PayAsYouGo routers can also get the 50GB data offering as a SIM-only deal for R199 one time.
The 50GB data for the Black Friday promotion will be allocated as follows:
- 26GB one time – in the first month including 8GB Anytime Data, 8GB Night Express Data and 10GB YouTube.
- 24GB: 2GB of recurring monthly data over a 12-month period.
These mobile broadband offers are used only on PayAsYouGo routers.
MTN said it will also run special Black Friday offers on voice, data and embedded packages for PayAsYouGo customers. Customers can dial * 142 # and select “Black Friday” to view special offers.
Contract / Postpaid Offers
MTN said that customers looking for a MiFi router with data at any time can opt for the following:
- 10GB of data at any time at R99 for a period of 24 months in select stores; or
- 50GB of data anytime at R199 for 24 months; or
- 100GB of data anytime to R299 for 24 months (online exclusively).
- *** SIM-only offers are no available.
Mega Plan and Sky Plan promotional offers are also available, MTN said. The Mega Plan Promo offers 25GB plus 1,500 minutes for R599 per month for 24 months, or for R499 per month for 36 months, and includes:
- 15 GB of data at any time;
- 5GB of social data;
- 5GB for streaming;
- 750 total net minutes;
- 750 minutes on the network;
- R30 International Calling Package;
- 20GB free package valid for the first 30 days;
- Free subscription to Apple Music for the first six-month subscription.
The Sky promotion, only available online, will offer customers 60GB plus unlimited minutes, for R799 per month for 24 months. It includes:
- 35 GB of data at any time;
- 15 GB of nightly data;
- 5GB of social data;
- 5GB for streaming;
- Unlimited minutes on the network;
- 3600 net total minutes;
- 20GB free package valid for the first 30 days;
- Free subscription to Apple Music for the first six-month subscription.
MTN said customers can get the following fixed home data deals:
- 1 TB of 5G home data – Anytime data with [email protected] MC801A to R999 router per month for 36 months;
- A 1TB home WiFi offering with [email protected] MF286R router for R999 for 24 months is available online exclusively;
- A 400GB Home WiFi Offering (200GB Anytime & 200GB Express Night Data) [email protected] MF286R to R599 router per month for 36 months.
Business issues
MTN trading offerings include:
- 50 GB of data with a Huawei E5576 router, on the MTN Made for Business Data + XXL plan, for R199 per month for 24 months; or
- In an offer exclusively offered online, 100 GB of data with a Huawei E5576 router, on the MTN Made for Business Data plan + 100 GB for R299 per month for 24 months; or
- In an offer exclusively offered through the MTN call center, 10GB of data with a Huawei E5576 router, on the MTN Made for Business Data + M plan, for R99 per month for 24 months.
MTN is also offering some business phone deals this Black Friday; business customers can sign up for:
25.5GB of data on the MTN Made for Business XL plan, for R499 per month for 36 months, or R599 per month for 24 months, this includes:
- 5.5GB of data at any time;
- 15 GB of promotional data;
- 5GB YouTube;
- 1000 net total minutes;
- 500 minutes on the network;
- R30 International Calling Package.
60GB plus unlimited minutes on the MTN Sky Lite plan for R799 per month for 24 months, this includes:
- 15 GB of data at any time;
- 15GB Night Express;
- 25GB promotional data;
- 5GB YouTube;
- Unlimited minutes on the network;
- 3,600 net minutes.
MTN said that both offers come standard with 20GB of data valid for the first 30 days.
Supersonic
Supersonic, MTN’s home broadband and fiber services arm, is offering two Black Friday deals.
Get unlimited home broadband for R999pm or 30 / 30Gigs Home Broadband for R199pm. Instead of limiting these deals to one day, Jetsons will make them available from November 23 to December 4, 2020 … that’s almost two full weeks! ”.
