Cape Town high school distances itself from racist TikTok account

“The content is extremely offensive and unacceptable,” Hammond said.

“It is disturbing that someone impersonated a child’s story, and posed as a school story that never existed, with the intention of maliciously sowing seeds of division, hatred and racism, and causing harm to a lower and the integrity of this school.

“It is unacceptable for people to intentionally and maliciously want to provoke racial riots and tensions.”

The Western Cape education department is still grappling with the aftermath of an unofficial matrix party attended by only white students at Brackenfell High School.

The EFF received permission to organize a protest at the school in Cape Town’s northern suburbs on Friday, where a major security operation has been planned in an attempt to prevent clashes similar to those that occurred outside the school during a EFF protest last week.

Editor’s Note: This article has been amended after the Western Cape Department of Education stated that its original statement incorrectly used the word “hacked” in relation to the student’s TikTok account instead of “impersonated.”
