CAPE TOWN – Western Cape Education MEC Debbie Schäfer said Brackenfell High School would be open on Friday despite a planned protest organized by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

“The school will open because we need to send a message that we cannot allow people to just close our schools. The matrices have been protected, we have arranged for you to write your Physical Science article. The other exams will be postponed next week. We cannot expect students to write under these conditions. “

On Friday, EFF supporters are expected to resume their ‘protest against racism’ rally outside Brackenfell High after a few tense days of fighting.

The protests have been sparked by a matrix event attended by only whites.

But Schäfer said it was not true that only white students were invited to the private meeting.

“If all white students were invited to the function and not all people of color, I would clearly have a problem with that. I have asked for a report and I have an interim report and all indications show that this is not what had happened.
