CAPE TOWN – Defense and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula again defended Wednesday that a delegation from the African National Congress (ANC) would take to Zimbabwe.
Mapisa-Nqakula was criticized earlier this year when she allowed an ANC delegation to accompany her on the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) plane.

The minister was questioned again by MPs on Wednesday while answering questions as part of the security group.
He said the decision to travel to Zimbabwe with the delegation was not made lightly and involved national security issues.
“They made me feel like I woke up in the morning, took a plane and went to Livingstone to see the waterfalls, I didn’t do that,” Mapisa-Nqakula said.
Mapisa-Nqakula said that giving ANC members a boost was not out of the ordinary as the party and the government shared the same interests.
“It would have been very selfish of me to jump on a plane alone and fly to Zimbabwe, letting people who were also going to Zimbabwe deal with the same problems that I had to face,” she said.
The minister told MPs that the ANC had since paid the bill for the trip.
