Bushiri, a popular self-proclaimed prophet, and his wife Mary are back in their home country of Malawi after claiming they feared for their lives in South Africa.
The fugitives, who are out on bail in South Africa, surrendered to authorities in Lilongwe on Wednesday.
Ramaphosa said that action will be taken against those responsible for helping them escape.
“The Bushiri issue has been very worrying for all of us and I am waiting for a detailed report on the entire Bushiri saga, which I will receive and then we will see what action needs to be taken because it should never have happened the way it did. Or tomorrow or so I will receive a report, ”said the president.
The Bushiri and three others face charges of money laundering, fraud and theft related to a multi-million rand investment plan.
