In August, Kwesta took to social media and announced that her family was growing. He also shared the state of mind that he, his wife Yolanda, and their daughter Khai were in as they began preparing for the newest member of their family.
The rapper took a trip down memory lane remembering when Khai was born, revealing how difficult that whole situation was at that time for him and Yolanda.
“When Khai my world was born it was a disaster. It was 2012, I shot him Boomshakalaka video in Cape Town, days after his birth. A month later we went to THT (The Hangover Tour) with Cashtime Fam. A real tour! For example, we didn’t go to shows on the weekend and came back during the week. We were gone!
“That shit ended in January and I came home after having a life-changing experience with no money. Khai’s first year was confusing AF, ”Kwesta said.
The rapper explained that even though he was very happy to be a father, he was broke and it hurt.
He added that even though he was working hard, it was still difficult to make ends meet and his wife had to ask her aunt for money.
“I had become a father and that made me happy, but I was also broke. I just put in a score for a show and when I did, I had to pay the people who contributed to DaKAR, which I was meeting with the gentlemen.
“I remember Yolanda she got money from her aunt or something just so she could have a little celebration for Khai’s first birthday. “
