The rape charges against the musician Sjava have been dismissed.

Sjava was facing a sexual assault charge after Lady Zamar opened a rape case that allegedly occurred at a hotel in Thohoyondou, Limpopo, in 2017 after a concert.

Lady Zamar opened the rape case at the local police station last year and it was referred to the National Tax Authority (NPA) for a decision on whether to prosecute.

According to Sowetan, Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that the case against Sjava was rejected for prosecution two weeks ago.

“Last year the case file was handed over to the chief prosecutor for a decision.

“On November 5, the director of the public prosecutor’s office in the court withdrew the case file,” he told the publication.

After the accusations were made against him, Sjava maintained his innocence. In August of this year, he released a video in which he claimed that he was not a rapist.

“I am not a rapist. For years I have been advocating (against) abuse of any kind, any shape or form, be it abuse of women or children, even alcohol abuse, ”said Sjava.

Sjava said he believes that what really led to the situation between him and the “Collide” hitmaker was the incident at his One Night With Sjava concert, where he introduced his “wife” to the audience.

She said she understands that Lady Zamar felt disrespected and embarrassed by the incident.

“I apologize for putting her in that awkward situation where she felt embarrassed and felt less of a person because people started seeing her as a high school girl and scolded her for dating a married man.”

“I would also like to apologize for not loving her the way she wanted to be loved,” Sjava said.

NPA spokesman Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said: “The state refused to prosecute the case because it believed that the facts or evidence did not support a successful prosecution.”

Calls to Sjava and Lady Zamar went unanswered.
