Sicelo Gumede, 34, remains in detention and will appear again in court on November 26 to request a formal bond.

According to police spokesman Colonel Adéle Myburgh, the body of his wife Zanele, 31, was seen on the side of Lonrho Drive in Mooinooi by a passerby around 07:00 on Friday. The passerby immediately informed the police.

“[Her] the body was allegedly found with multiple stab wounds, while an unknown object slit his throat. Emergency and rescue medical services officials were called and Zanele was pronounced dead at the scene, “Myburgh said.

According to Myburgh, Rustenburg police arrived at the scene with the husband who previously reported his wife missing. He identified the deceased as his wife.

After a thorough police investigation, Sicelo was arrested and charged with murder. The motive has yet to be determined and the investigation is continuing.
