JOHANNESBURG – The 2020 National Senior Certificate matric exams have been affected by the first test paper leak.

According to the Department of Basic Education, the Paper Two Math test was leaked on Monday morning, just hours before it was written.

The department said it was not sure how the leak occurred, but that tuition students who had access to the questionnaire appeared to be in Limpopo and Gauteng.

“The Department of Basic Education is investigating the matter to establish the scope of the leak. Early sources point to the confinement of the leak to a few students located in these two provinces,” the department said.

“The investigation team is gathering evidence and a report will be presented shortly. The Department will have the support of law enforcement agencies to assist with the investigation.”

The department has asked anyone with information about the leak to come forward, guaranteeing anonymity for anyone who does.
