Bruno Fernandes has opened up to his competitive nature, revealing that his desire to win is present in all aspects of his life.

The Portuguese has been a revelation since signing for Manchester United and was largely responsible for the club finishing third last season.

He is known for his determination and willingness to win at all costs, and his wife Ana Pinho and daughter Matilde seem to be aware of his never-say-die attitude.

Fernandes recently spoke on Manchester United’s Official Podcast, where he suggested that he gets his competitive nature from his father.

While on the subject, he gave an example of how competitive he really is, even off the soccer field, by revealing that he couldn’t resist beating his three-year-old daughter in a game of Uno.

“Always [I’ve had a competitive personality]. Always. I hate to lose. In everything ”, explained the Manchester United midfielder.

“Two days ago I was playing Uno with my little daughter and you know, sometimes you just need to let them win.

“So in this game play two +4 [cards], and puts +4 twice.

“She’s young, she doesn’t know, so sometimes you ask, do you have other cards to leave? And when I asked her, she put another +4, so I take another 8 cards.

“Then I got rid of all these cards – bang bang bang and I won that game. I needed to win because I was so mad that she put me twice +4 … she made me pick up all these cards!”

Fernandes’s wife, Ana, watched the whole thing unfold, and by the midfielder admitted, she was a bit taken aback by what she had witnessed.

“My wife was looking at me and she said, ‘You’re always the same,'” he added.
