The newly crowned Miss SA Shudufhadzo Musida should be basking in the light of her victory.

But instead of celebrating the conclusion of her homecoming tour that saw her visit Limpopo and her hometown of Ha-Masia, the University of Pretoria graduate has had to deal with negative comments that flooded our timelines during the Weekend.

If the online trolls affected her in any way, Musida did not let it be seen; instead, he chose to ignore it and radiate the warm welcome he received from fans back home.

But it was inevitable that the comparisons between her and current Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi would eventually come to light and manifest on Twitter.

From playing the tribalism card to accusing Musida of being arrogant, the tweeps made their views very clear.

Despite the negative comments, fans showed their support for the beauty queen.

Local actress and author Bonnie Mbuli responded to the hate with: “Nithi, what is your real problem with our Miss SA? I can’t really understand how basic your level of reasoning must be to support tribalism … but the other problem could be that people have spent so much time aspiring to a standard of beauty so alien to their actual appearance … “

Bonang Matheba also expressed her support with a strong “we have you …”, prompting Musida to respond with “I love you mom”.

It is not the first time that Tunzi has faced her fellow Miss SA winners. Previously, tweeps had issues with their predecessor Sasha-Lee Olivier. From embarrassing Olivier to suggesting she was pregnant, trolling became a constant throughout her reign.
