Gauteng matrices that tested positive for Covid-19 will now write their exams in Nasrec.

The Gauteng Health Department says the move comes after “an exponential increase” and would help mitigate the risk of transmission. It goes into effect on Monday.

During the first two weeks of the examination period, nine students who tested positive for Covid-19 were allowed to take their exams under controlled conditions, managed by officials from the health and education departments.

“All identified candidates will be quarantined at Nasrec for a minimum of 10 days (for minor illness) and the days could be extended for seriously ill candidates. Candidates will receive educational facilities, medical care, catering and all other compliance requirements. with the health protocols, “said department spokesman Steve Mabona.

The Health Department will facilitate the transportation of emergency medical services from the candidates’ homes to the quarantine site.

“Parents are expected to inform the respective schools / principals, so that the necessary arrangements can be concluded, the quarantine of the candidates will be carried out from Sunday,” Mabona said.
