Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward appears to have made up his mind about Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s future at the club.
Manchester United have failed to perform to their standards in the Premier League this season and many believe this has been possibly one of the worst starts the Red Devils have made in a long time despite a couple of great results in the Champions League.
The Premier League has given United a difficult time and a 6-1 loss to Spurs raised many questions about Solskjaer’s authority over the club. Things seemed to get back to normal after that for a while, but a 1-0 loss to a struggling Arsenal ended that mini streak of form. As it is, they are seated in seat 13 at the table.
Although their performances in Champions League matches against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig gave United the boost they needed, the hard work was undone after the loss to the Gunners and was followed by a 2-fold loss. -1 against Istanbul Basaksehir.
With these results, Solskjaer’s was again accused of not being unable to use his players to the best of their abilities. It was claimed that he preferred players who were his favorites rather than providing opportunities for those who were suitable for the job.
Rumors about the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the next manager also began to surface, but Solskjaer managed to stop them with a much-needed 3-1 win against Everton last Saturday.

Ed Woodward recently made bold statements publicly and seemed to confirm that the board is trusting the Norwegian to move the club forward. According to the Mirror, Woodward gave a vote of confidence to the Norwegian saying:
“While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause significant disruption, we are optimistic that the recovery and normalization phase is gradually appearing. The club’s resilience and our strong commercial business continue to provide a solid foundation and give us confidence in our long-term outlook beyond the pandemic, both on and off the pitch.
“On the field, while there is still a lot of work ahead to achieve consistency, we remain absolutely committed to the positive path we are on with Ole as the team continues to develop.
“We miss playing in front of our fans and we are working hard together with our governing bodies and relevant authorities to ensure that the fans can return safely as soon as possible.”
Woodward could have publicly acknowledged the club’s faith in the coach, but if the team doesn’t start to improve its performance, things could change very soon. This is how things work in modern football.
