A 30-year-old man was killed in an alleged vigilante attack in Limpopo.

The killing took place in the village of Muraleni, on the outskirts of Makhado, when residents allegedly “went on a rampage” on Friday, said police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

“[They] they attacked and killed a 30-year-old man they suspected of being involved in criminal activities in and around the area, “he said.

Police were notified that there was a seriously injured person on the side of the road. Officers responded and found the man, identified as Jerry Shumba Manyere, dead at the scene.

Manyere was suspected of breaking into houses in the area, Ngoepe said.

The people involved in the killing are still unknown and there have been no arrests, he added.
