JOHANNESBURG – A South African Super Rugby unlocked match scheduled for Saturday in Johannesburg was postponed after three Pumas players tested positive for coronavirus, according to a statement from SA Rugby.

The Pumas from the northeastern city of Bombola were to face the Lions at Ellis Park in a sixth-round game between teams not competing for the title.

One Puma tested positive earlier in the week and two more after subsequent testing, and all three have been in quarantine for 10 days.

A previous Lions game at home, against the Cheetahs, was canceled last month after several members of the Johannesburg team contracted the virus.

SA Rugby said that another two Super Rugby games this weekend, Griquas against Sharks and Stormers against Cheetahs, will go ahead as the Bulls, who top the table, have a goodbye.

South Africa is the African country most affected by the coronavirus with 20,076 confirmed deaths as of Friday night, 744,732 cases and 690,903 recoveries.
