After a Covid-19 scare in the Sharks camp coach Sean Everitt has named a readjusted lineup for Friday’s Super Rugby Unlocked clash against Griquas in Kimberley.
Jeremy ward, who co-captained the Sharks in last year’s Currie Cup competition with Tera Mtembu, will lead a team that shows a number of changes from the one that beat the Cheetahs 19-13 in Durban last week.
The Sharks have confirmed a positive case of coronavirus in their group, while two players who were in close contact will also be left out. The player who tested positive will sit out for 14 days and the other two for seven days, provided they test negative.
Everitt made a number of changes early on, with the return of influential players who have recovered from injuries or rest.
After playing from the bench in recent games, hooker Kerron van Vuuren replaces Daniel Jooste, while Ruben van Heerden returns to the second row after two starts for JJ van der Mescht, who will play from the bench.
At the rear, James Venter replaces Dylan Richardson with Thembelani Bholi winning a first outing in place of Henco Venter, who was the team captain last week.
Former Griquas and the Cheetahs fullback Anthony Volmink will make his Sharks debut in place of Manie Libbok. The start is at 19:00 on Friday.
