The other interim board members are Omphile Ramela, Judith February, Professor Andre Odendaal, Dr. Stavros Nicolaou, Xolani Vonya, Andile Mbatha and Caroline Mampuru, with retired Judge Zak Yacoob as chair.
TimesLIVE understands that newly elected Sascoc president Barry Hendricks received and acknowledged the letter from the CSA Council of Members dismissing the interim board.
Hendricks confirmed Thursday that he had received a letter from the board, but declined to confirm that the letter communicated the immediate removal of the interim board.
“They copied me in a letter [from the CSA Members’ Council] that it was sent to the minister, ”he said. “I cannot disclose the content of the letter before we have a discussion as a Sascoc board. I cannot confirm or deny whether the letter says that the CSA interim board has been removed or not. “
Judith February, an interim member of the CSA board of directors tasked with speaking to the media, was also contacted to confirm the firing.
“I’m going to a meeting now. I’ll talk to you later, ”February told TimesLIVE in a WhatsApp text message on Thursday.
CSA is understood to have asked Sascoc to step in and work with him to quickly come up with a restructuring strategy and report back to the minister thereafter.
If all else fails, TimesLIVE is informed, the Council of Members will go directly to the ICC and accuse the minister of interference.
