Wayde van niekerk He continued his comeback from a serious knee injury by winning a 60m sprint event at Potchefstroom.
Since his return to the track, Van Niekerk has focused primarily on 400m events, but has said he will run shorter races as well.
And on Tuesday, he raced to victory in an unofficial time of 6.62 seconds.
Last week, Van Niekerk won a 400-meter event in 45.89 seconds, but took to Twitter after the race to say he was not satisfied with his time.
In April of this year, he told the Olympic Channel that he expected to run under 43 seconds in the 400 meters.
“I’m hungrier than before,” he said.
“I still believe that I can go under-43. I can do much better than what I have at 100 and 200 meters, that’s where my mind was before the injury and that’s where my mind is in the future.”
