JOHANNESBURG – Two senior Hawks officials and a former officer have appeared before the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court.

The trio were arrested Tuesday morning for alleged fraud and corruption in promotional appointments within the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations.

The arrests come just a day after Hawks spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi resigned amid rand 3 million corruption allegations.

Mulaudzi is alleged to have colluded with senior commission officials to secure the funds to spend on things unrelated to the development of the sports field.

A report by private investigator Paul O’Sullivan alleges that Mulaudzi obtained the money for development in Mukondeni Village.

However, he is accused of using the money on items unrelated to the project itself, such as the purchase of minibus taxis and bribes paid to NLC officials.
