CAPE TOWN – Police Minister Bheki Cele has called for the immediate intervention of the South African Police Service leadership to address the complaints of some Langa residents.
During a community security imbizo last weekend, aggrieved community members alleged that some policemen rejected victims of gender-based violence.
Others also claimed that the police were not using all available resources to fight crime in the area.
Cele said she would meet with the leaders of the local police station: “Which means that the police station at one point had leadership, where is that leadership? So I want us to sit down with management and provincial management and find out why people call your predecessor when you are there. “
