WASHINGTON – Every candidate in the middle of the U.S. presidential campaign is talking about their goals during their first 100 days in office, and Joe Biden, the Democrat who defied President Donald Trump and defeated him, has been doing it for months.
From fighting the coronavirus to rejoining the Paris climate accord and immigration reform, a Biden presidency, he says, would change course on multiple fronts.
“We will have a huge task to repair the damage he has done,” Biden said recently of his rival.
Here’s a look at what the first 100 days of Biden’s presidency might look like.
ANTIPANDEMIC STRATEGY
Biden says he would immediately launch a national strategy to “get ahead” of the virus and end the pandemic crisis.
That means a nationwide mask mandate and a plan that allows free and widespread Covid-19 testing, boosts the manufacture of medical equipment in the US, and makes any future vaccines “free for everyone, insured or not.” .
After accusing Trump of undermining his own health experts, Biden has vowed to keep on board the respected member of the White House coronavirus task force, Anthony Fauci.

ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION

“The first thing I’ll do is rejoin the Paris agreement,” Biden promised during his debut debate against Trump, who exited the historic global agreement in 2017. “Because without us, look at what’s happening. Everything is falling apart.”
Biden says he would also convene a climate summit of the world’s top polluters to “persuade” them to make more ambitious commitments to reduce carbon emissions.
Biden has adopted an ambitious $ 2 trillion climate change plan that includes a “clean energy revolution” that aims to achieve net zero emissions across the economy by 2050.
He also vowed to quickly reverse several of the rollbacks to Trump’s environmental standards regulations.
JUDICIAL REFORM
Biden promised to quickly appoint a bipartisan national commission that would have 180 days to study the judicial system – which the Democrat said is “spiraling out of control” – and propose reforms.
He has said he is “not a fanatic” of expanding the United States Supreme Court beyond its current nine members.
But other Democrats have expressed a clear preference for the measure now that Trump’s third nominee to the bank, Amy Coney Barrett, has been confirmed, consolidating her conservative majority of six to three.
Biden, who authored numerous crime bills as a senator, is also calling for radical reform of criminal justice.
His plans include creating a grant program that encourages states to reduce incarceration and crime, guaranteeing housing for formerly incarcerated people, and strategies to reduce recidivism.
‘ROAD TO CITIZENSHIP’
Biden has promised a substantial suite of immigration reforms if he wins the White House.
He has announced that he will immediately create a federal task force to bring together more than 500 children who were separated from their parents by the Trump administration at the US-Mexico border.
Biden has described the separations as a “criminal” result of Trump’s zero tolerance policy aimed at dissuading migrants from crossing into the United States.
It would also repeal travel bans that bar foreign nationals from several Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States.
One of your most controversial steps could be taking action on the millions of undocumented people living in the United States.
“Within 100 days, I will send the United States Congress a path to citizenship for more than 11 million undocumented immigrants,” Biden said in his final debate with Trump on October 22.
He also pledged to allow underage children who entered the country with their parents illegally, a group of about 700,000 young people known as Dreamers, to stay legally and take steps to obtain US citizenship.
