ATP Finals lineup confirmed as Diego Schwartzman secures last place
The season-ending ATP Finals lineup has been confirmed with Diego Schwartzman securing last place, despite his defeat in the Paris Masters quarter-final.
Schwartzman will make his debut at the prestigious tournament that will take place November 15-22 at The O2 in London.
The Argentine joins fellow rookie Andrey Rublev of Russia, alongside Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Spaniard Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem of Austria, Russian Daniil Medvedev, German Alexander Zverev and current champion Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece.
After an impressive season, Schwartzman only needed to win his quarter-final match against Daniil Medvedev at the Paris Masters to qualify for the ATP Finals, which he failed to do.
Then he had an anxious wait to see how Pablo Carreña Busta fared in his quarter-finals against Rafa Nadal, as he was the only player who could dispute the final place.
Carrena Busta took the first set, but wasn’t strong enough to stop Nadal’s comeback, handing the London final to Schwartzman, who showed his joy on Twitter.

Andrea Gaudenzi, President of the ATP, said: “This has been a season like no other and all the players who have qualified for the season finale deserve great recognition.
“On its 50th anniversary, the event will once again showcase the best ATP players and will also end an incredibly successful twelve-year stay in London.
“While we hope our fans can join us for the last year at The O2, we thank them for their passionate support through broadcast and digital channels, and we look forward to an exciting week of tennis.”
