JOHANNESBURG – Former SAA technical board chair Yakhe Kwinana continues her testimony at the state capture commission on Saturday.

His appearance in the Zondo investigation comes after delays that caused the commission to extend its work to a weekend as it is under pressure to wrap things up.

Kwinana appeared last week where she denied a series of questions asked by the investigation’s test leaders.

She testified that she never approved a R1 billion contract with the Swissport aviation company.

This is despite evidence before the commission showing that the company opposed a 30% deal with BEE that would cause it to lose R90 million of its annual SAA earnings.

The investigation heard that Swissport’s fortunes changed thanks to Kwinana and her friend, SAA service provider Yuyisile Ndzeku.
