- Another 72 Covid-19-related deaths were confirmed in South Africa on Friday.
- The country is waiting to see if there will be another increase and comments from the National Coronavirus Command Council next week.
- However, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has called for close and continuous monitoring for flu-like symptoms.
Another 72 Covid-19-related deaths were recorded on Friday, seven of which occurred in the past 24 to 48 hours.
Twenty-five of the people who died were from the Eastern Cape, seven from Gauteng, nine from the Free State, eight from KwaZulu-Natal, 16 from Limpopo, three from the North Cape and four from the Western Cape.

This brings the total number of Covid-19-related deaths to 19,749 from 734,175 cases. There have been 675 593 recoveries.
In a speech prepared for Friday, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize urged people to pay attention to flu-like symptoms.
In a malaria awareness campaign, he observed that detecting Covid-19 can be tricky, as the early symptoms were similar.
