A cache of contraband crayfish tails was found in a hearse in Gordon’s Bay on Thursday.

Police spokesman Colonel Andrè Traut said 5,441 rock lobster tails from the west coast were found in a body bag in the back of the hearse.

This followed a tip to the police that alerted the fisheries officials who made the arrest.

The value of the finding was estimated at R54 100.

One person was arrested and must appear in court in Strand once charged.
