Raspberry Pi launches mini-computer on a keyboard

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has thrown out his latest Raspberry Pi minicomputer: the Raspberry Pi 400.

This design of this device differs from previous models, comprising a Pi mini computer that is built into a keyless keyboard.

This design is inspired by classic PCs from the 1980s and houses a faster and cooler 4GB Raspberry Pi 4 mini computer.

This means it features a 64-bit quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as the standard 40-pin GPIO header that many devices in the Raspberry Pi line sport.

“Raspberry Pi 4, which we launched in June of last year, is approximately forty times more powerful than the original Raspberry Pi and offers an experience that is indistinguishable from a legacy PC for most users,” said the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

“Particularly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen a rapid increase in the use of the Raspberry Pi 4 for work and study from home.”

At launch, the Pi 400 is available in keyboard layouts in UK English, US English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

The Raspberry Pi 400 is priced at just $ 70, or $ 100 for a Raspberry Pi 400 personal computer kit.

The kit includes the following hardware:

  • A Raspberry Pi 400 computer
  • Official USB mouse
  • Official USB-C power supply
  • An SD card with the Raspberry Pi operating system pre-installed
  • A micro HDMI to HDMI cable
  • The Official Beginner’s Guide to Raspberry Pi
