Bongani Bongo, an ANC MP and Chairman of the Parliament’s Internal Affairs Portfolio Committee, has been released on bail of 10,000 rand by the Mbombela Magistrates Court.
Bongo and 14 others appeared in court for fraud and corruption related to a case dating back to the time when Bongo was an official in the Mpumalanga government.
Bongo also faces a separate corruption charge at the Cape Town Magistrates Court.
On Tuesday, the Hawks issued an arrest warrant, hours after he chaired a virtual portfolio committee meeting.
