Chippa United 0-1 Kaizer Chiefs

An own goal was all the Kaizer Chiefs needed in their away game against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday night.

It was a frustrating first half for both sides, and the woodworking had plenty of action in the first 45.

All Lebogang Manyama, Khama Billiat and Augustine Kwem got close enough to open the scoring, but the vertical got in the way for every player.

Chippa’s goalkeeper Veli Mothwa was the hero early in the second half, with a succession of saves that kept the Chiefs out despite their sustained dominance.

The 29-year-old’s defenses were eventually breached, albeit by his own teammate, in Gregory Davids, who deflected a cross into his own net to make it 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs.

Both teams were not short of opportunities, but there were no goals, as they remained 1-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Black Leopards 1-3 Baroka

In the second of two PSL results decided on Tuesday, Baroka didn’t have too many nervous moments in the Limpopo derby against Black Leopards in Thohoyandou.

Bakgaga built up a three-goal lead in the first half, eliminating any chance of an unfavorable result in 45 minutes.

They were on the roster in the first minute, thanks to Richard Mbulu, who scored his second of the season, before Evidence Makgopa picked up where he left off last season to make it 2-0.

Mbulu completed his double before the halftime break to score his third for the season.

Leopards’ only came off a Baroka player, as Phelelani Shozi turned one into his own network at the hour mark.

The game ended with Baroka enjoying a one-man lead, with Tebogo Moakoba giving his marching orders in the 72nd minute.
