CAPE TOWN – President Cyril Ramaphosa said the African National Congress (ANC) had paid to use a SANDF plane to fly to Zimbabwe.

This was revealed while the president answered questions at the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Tuesday afternoon.

Ramaphosa returned to Parliament for oral questions ranging from the trip to Zimbabwe to the COVID-19 corruption.

President Cyril Ramaphosa said Defense Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula made an error in judgment when she allowed the ANC to go up to Zimbabwe.

He said that the minister, however, had full permission to make the official visit.

“I discovered that it was an error in judgment on his part to use the plane to broadcast a political delegation from a party. I ordered the minister to ensure that the ANC reimburses the state for the cost of the flight to Harare and I understand that this has already been done. done “.

Ramaphosa said the trip was for bilateral talks between Mapisa-Nqakula and her Zimbabwean counterpart and had to do with regional security.

“And they, as defense ministers, have been involved in discussions about how best to address some of these very difficult and sensitive security issues.”
