JOHANNESBURG – Several people, including former Minister of State Security Bongani Bongo, are expected to appear in court on charges of theft, fraud and corruption.

The National Prosecutor’s Office (NPA), while refusing to disclose the names of the persons who must appear, has confirmed that several suspects must appear before the Mbombela court.

NPA spokesman Sipho Ngwema said this would be related to a number of charges including fraud, corruption, theft and money laundering.

Bongo, who faces corruption charges in the Western Cape, has in the past been linked to bribery allegations related to a R37 million land deal in Mpumalanga.
