Former England coach Sir Clive Woodward believes that France will win the Rugby World Cup 2023 on the floor of the house.
The 64-year-old was the mastermind behind England’s success at the World Cup in 2003 and, in a column for the Daily Mail, has now explained why he believes the Les Blues are the favorites to win what would be their first Cup. Webb Ellis in three years.
France take on Ireland in Paris on Saturday and the victory could see them crowned Six Nations champions, although England are the first to win the tournament as they are tied on points with France and face Italy, also on Saturday.
Woodward, however, has seen enough and believes the French will be a force to be reckoned with in 2023.
“However, as we await the final weekend of the long overdue Six Nations of 2020, I think it is France that England must meet. Woodward wrote.
“Three years before the World Cup and France, at home, are my advice to win it. From now on, England must match them in all departments.
“The French are not the final article, but I see an exceptional generation of brilliant players, forwards and running backs, maturing together.
“There are still folds to fix, but France is only going in one direction, as we saw in their convincing win over Wales.”
