The names of the 13 South African universities listed in the Best Global Universities Rankings (BGUR) were recently published.
The 2021 Best Global Universities Rankings is the seventh annual report compiled by US News, which analyzed a total of 86 countries to name the 1,500 best universities in the world.
In a statement, US News said that universities are ranked according to “13 indicators that measure their performance in academic research and their global and regional reputation.”

The 13 indicators included Publications, International Collaboration, and Global Research Reputation.
“Each of the school’s profile pages on Usnews.com lists the overall overall score, as well as numerical ranges for all 13 indicators, allowing students to compare each school’s position on each indicator.”
