South Africa was shocked last week when allegations of abuse surfaced against Katlego Maboe, along with a video of an interaction between him and his ex-girlfriend Monique Muller.

Since then, The morning of the express host has been a hot topic in the news headlines, and the video was even parodied on TikTok.

Now a petition to get Maboe back on the air, started by Lindy KaMahlobo, is on Change.org.

The reason for the request reads: “Katlego Maboe: is he not allowed to have a personal life?

“I am not forgiving his behavior of cheating on his partner, but this young man is human after all and I feel that this woman brought her internal bedroom or her domestic affairs to the outside world of which we are not concerned and are not concerned. his work too.

“If Outsurance doesn’t bring Katlego back, this petition will be signed by South Africans to boycott Outsurance until you bring the poor guy back to our screens.

“This young man deserves a chance because he was not drunk, he was not abusing any woman or taking drugs in the eyes of the public.

“Only his angry partner needs to heal from whatever he is suffering.

“His partner is the one who damaged his career by exposing his own personal internal affairs to the world and he is very unfair to Katlego.”

“This is your bedroom problem!”

The petition has garnered more than 35,000 signatures, with the target set at 50,000.

Following the abuse allegations and the video’s appearance, Maboe has been removed from The Expresso morning show until the matter was “thoroughly investigated and pending the outcome.”

Outsurance has also removed all advertisements containing Maboe.

Speaking to IOL Entertainment, Maboe said that he stood firm in his opening statement in which he denied the abuse allegations, adding that the matter was being litigated and therefore sub judice.

“I am respecting the legal process and all those involved and I do not compromise or discredit anyone,” he said.

Regarding the video circulating on social media, where Muller is apparently filming it, Maboe said it was filmed on August 24 and started as a normal night at home and ended in the barbecue session.

“My son was used as a weapon, and as a father, I was put in a position where I must consider my love for him … I said what I said in the video and did my best to at least draw the line the integrity of the people involved.

“I really wanted to have the conversation with her in person, but very soon I realized that the intention of the video from the beginning was for it to be published.”

IOL Entertainment was unable to reach Muller for comment.
