CAPE TOWN – Investigators said Monday they believe the man involved in the murder of a Cape Town detective is also linked to an attempted hit on a prominent lawyer.

Zane Kilian was expected to file a bail offer in Belville Regional Court on Monday when the court heard that additional charges had been added. Kilian was in custody for over a month prior to this. He was arrested after Detective Charl Kinnear was shot and killed outside his Bishop Lavis home.

But Kilian is now also linked to the assassination attempt on William Booth earlier this year.

Charges of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of fraud have been added to his charge sheet for his alleged involvement in the attempted murder of Booth.

Kilian will now appear in Cape Town Magistrates Court on Tuesday to face the new charges.

The fraud charge relates to documentation that describes your record as a private investigator.

Kilian’s defense attorney, Eric Breyer, said no further charges had been ruled out.
