JOHANNESBURG – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema said the party was planning a massive action against all companies that have claimed the FIU from the state and failed to pay their employees.
Malema is asking workers to contact the party to alert it of companies that had not paid the FIU.
The red beret leader spoke at a press conference in Braamfontein on Monday afternoon on a wide range of topics, including the party’s visit to Senekal this month, the appointment of Ranjeni Munusamy to the Treasury, the riots in Nigeria and the next presidential election in the United States.
Malema also took a moment to weigh in on the COVID-19 pandemic, urging South Africans to remain vigilant amid threats from a second wave of infections.
He said that people should exercise the utmost caution: “The reality is that there is still no cure or vaccine for the coronavirus and the most reliable measure to limit its spread is social distancing, the use of masks and recurring hygiene practices, including hand washing. The people of South Africa must stop behaving as if the coronavirus is gone. It is still here and the second wave of infection will kill many people. “
