Where was Arsenal’s midfield against Leicester?

A tactical rethink is needed quickly!

Did I rush to comment that I thought Dani Ceballos and Thomas Partey would do well together, or is it too early to tell?

I recently wrote an article saying that I feel that Partey will help bring out the best in many of our players, mainly those who are with him, Xhaka and Ceballos.

But after the game against Leicester, which Ceballos came back from injury, Xhaka was called up and Partey made his Premier League debut, in all honesty midfield was nothing to shout about and it really disappointed me.

I understand that for Partey, playing in the Premier League, it will take time to get used to, the tempo and the League as a whole is completely different from La Liga so it can be excused as it was his first EPL match, but knowing how Xhaka and Ceballos have played before and can play, I was disappointed that they barely did anything in the match.

Whether it’s not being used to playing alongside Partey or something else, only they know, but this is something that needs to be addressed. I know adding Partey to our team doesn’t fix everything, but I’m sure I, along with a number of fans, thought it would add that creative flair that we were lacking, but it quickly became clear that even Partey alone couldn’t change our midfield. and whatever is going on now is much deeper than midfield.

Arteta needs to rethink his tactics, training and general squad mentality, because if we continue as we have in the last two Premier League games, we will once again find ourselves in the lower half of the table and without FA. The Community Shield Cup or trophy will make up for it.

Although it’s an inconsistent league this year, it’s starting to look like the same old Arsenal!
