WWE News: Randy Orton Shares A Brilliant Story About Fear Of A ‘Receipt’ From The Undertaker

Wrestling is a dangerous business. As the famous saying goes: ‘this is not ballet’.

Sometimes accidents happen and WWE Superstars can be injured.

There is also an unwritten “rule” about what happens when your opponent goes “stiff” and really catches you.

You have the right to give a ‘receipt’, which, in simple terms, means that you can hit them back.

It’s not uncommon for things to go wrong inside the ring, as a young Randy Orton discovered in 2005 when he accidentally caught The Undertaker with a chair and opened it.

That’s a story he recalled in an upcoming episode of ‘WWE Untold: The Phenom and The Legend Killer’ that will air this Sunday.

During the documentary, Orton brilliantly explains that he was ‘getting screwed’ by facing a ‘receipt’ from Undertaker and revealed what happened when he finally arrived.

Orton concerned about a receipt from The Undertaker

“In my one-year show with The Undertaker, I learned how difficult a receipt was,” begins The Viper.

“There is a trajectory when you swing a chair. He’s on his knees, I back up and start to rock … But I was wrong.

“When that chair collapsed, I caught him with the edge of the chair, ripping the skin from his forehead to the bridge of his nose and he was covered in blood.

“That wasn’t supposed to happen. So I’m shitting my pants, we get to the back and I’m like ‘sorry, sorry!’ He looks at me and says: ‘don’t worry kid, your receipt has arrived.’

“So I’m like oh shit. That sucks.”

That accident happened on an episode of SmackDown in early 2005, but The Undertaker waited until his Hell in a Cell match at Armageddon in December to collect his receipt.

The receipt arrived in December 2005.

Orton went on to explain exactly what happened that night.

“We are both on the ground outside the ring. He grabs a chair, walks over and puts it next to him.

“I’m screwed up against the apron. He looks at me and says ‘that receipt is coming in now.’

Undertaker used his receipt during HIAC

“I look at him … ‘okay, what the hell am I supposed to do about it?’

“But even though he owed me one because I broke his ass, he took care of me. Anyone else would have hit me as hard as they could.

“I learned an important lesson that day. Your number one priority is taking care of your opponent.”

Undertaker taught Orton a lesson that day

Even when the Undertaker owed Orton a ‘receipt’ for catching him flush with a steel chair, he made sure to take care of his opponent in the ring and never really considered hurting him.

That attitude is exactly what makes him a WWE legend.

WWE Untold: The Phenom and The Legend Killer will air on Sunday, October 25 on WWE Network.
