Liverpool defeated Sheffield United 2-1 at Anfield in the sixth week of Premier League matches on Saturday night.
The Reds found themselves with one goal less in the 13th minute of play after a controversial penalty that was awarded to Sheffield.
Sander Berge stepped in to take the penalty and sent Alisson Becker down the wrong path to give his team the early lead.
The hosts responded in the 41st minute when Roberto Firmino scored the tying goal off a rebound from Sadio Mane’s header.
Just after the hour mark, Salah almost added his name to the scorecard when he received a long ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold and placed it in the far corner. However, his goal was annulled for offside after a VAR control.

Two minutes later, Diogo Jota nodded with a well-placed header to put Liverpool ahead and turn the game around.
Salah came close to adding Liverpool’s third of the afternoon as he worked his way into the area and deftly sucked in Sheffield goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, but the Egyptian’s effort hit the post.
With this victory, Liverpool are now temporarily tied on points with Everton (13) at the top of the Premier League table.
Their next game will be at home against Danish Midtjylland in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday 27 October.
