Liverpool have finally found a replacement for Coutinho with the arrival of Jota

Liverpool have been a good player in the transfer market since FSG took over, even more so since Michael Edwards got involved. The Reds have identified top talent and pocket buyers, bringing in bargain talent and driving players for exorbitant fees. The club made a big profit on a player and used the money wisely, but they never replaced him. Liverpool could have finally resolved Philippe Coutinho’s vacuum with the arrival of Diogo Jota.

Coutinho offer

In 2018, Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for a staggering £ 142 million.

The Brazilian headed to the Camp Nou in what became one of the most disastrous operations in recent years.

Coutinho was a failure at Barcelona and was eventually loaned out to Bayern Munich, while playing for the Bavarians he scored and assisted Barça in last season’s 8-2 Champions League defeat.

Meanwhile, the Reds spent the money from the sale on Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker, lifting the Champions League the following season.

Liverpool sign Jota

This summer, Liverpool signed Diogo Jota for 41 million pounds from the Wolves.

The Reds’ move by the Portuguese forward was unexpected, to say the least.

We had been linked with many players over the summer, but Diogo’s name never came up once, there were only hours between our reported interest in the deal being made.

Since coming to Liverpool he has been very impressive, scoring in his Premier League debut with the Reds and scoring the winning goal in his first Premier League start for the club.

Return to Fab Four

When Coutinho was at Liverpool we had the ‘Fab Four’ of Coutinho, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino.

We played 4-2-3-1 and swept teams with the creativity and style of the four offenses.

Although we coped well without Philadelphia and spent money wisely, we never quite replaced it.

The arrival of Diogo Jota may well have facilitated a return to the days of the fabulous four, with Roberto Firmino potentially falling into the role of Coutinho.

This formation helps to bring out the best in the creativity of the four forwards, although it is not clear where Jota will be deployed in this formation; over the weekend, the quartet seemed to rotate at will.

If we truly return this quartet of offensive prowess, the Premier League will tremble in their boots.
