Jurgen Klopp’s side is now second in the Premier League table with 13 points from six games, one point behind the leaders and Everton, who have played five games in Merseyside.

Former Liverpool striker Aldridge has been delighted Twitter in the Reds’ victory, and has made a sarcastic comment that Klopp’s team is “very average” and still in second place.

Title march

Liverpool suffered a humiliating 7-2 loss to Aston Villa before the international break, but the Reds have done well since then.

The Merseyside club are already five points ahead of Manchester City and are racking up the points despite not being at their best.
