Prince William’s suffering as a member of the royal family began right after his arrival in this world.
The Duke of Cambridge was burdened by royal duties growing up, so much so that he began to believe that his childhood had been “stolen.”
As a normal child growing up in an extraordinary home, William was told of his real destiny too casually at first.
The mere idea of one day becoming King sent shivers down the spine of the heir, who back then just wanted to have a simple life.
This is the reason why William has particularly restricted himself from doing the same with his eldest son, Prince George.
Royal historian and author Robert Lacey, who recently wrote an explosive book Battle of brothershe said to Really obsessed podcast, “It is interesting that we understand that, perhaps to this day, Prince William does not want his eldest son, George, to know about his future destiny.
“William felt his fate had been told too casually, it was just assumed. He was thrown without any preparation.
“It stole her childhood, in a way,” Lacey added.
The historian then went on to discuss the childhood repercussions of the brothers to the heir to the throne.
He said: “In Britain there is the tradition of the heir and the spare. To begin with, you are co-stars. Those of you who are older will remember the little princesses Margaret and Elizabeth playing together. Both idolized by the nation and the world.
“But then, as the years went by, Princess Margaret was diverted down the food chain. The same happened with Andrew and now it has happened with Prince Harry.”
“As soon as I say in their childhood, they realized it,” Lacey continued.
