Johannesburg – The husband of one of the two women killed in Limpopo last week is one of five people who have been arrested for the killings.
The 56-year-old husband was detained Thursday morning at the hospital where he was admitted after he allegedly attempted suicide.
Property and construction entrepreneur Tebogo Mphuti, 35, and her friend Makoena Mabusela-Leshabane, 46, a senior aviation finance consultant at Investec, were shot and killed in an alleged hit while they were about to view a warehouse for to rent in Magnavia, Polokwane.
They were reportedly shot at point-blank range.
Limpopo Police Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said that the Limpopo Provincial Investigation Team, the Tracking Team and the Magama Investigators had carried out a well-coordinated intelligence-based operation.
He said they managed to locate the suspects, ages 25 to 56, who were later arrested in Elsburg, Katlehong and Germiston.
“The red Hyundai Accent believed to have been used in the killings, two firearms, two magazines and thirteen rounds of live ammunition were also seized during the first raids.
“The suspects, in addition to two counts of murder, will also be charged with possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. They will appear in the Polokwane magistrates court on Monday, ”Mojapelo said.
