Just last week, Mabote made headlines because he announced that he would go after the Sunday World tabloid for 1 million rand in damages after allegedly smearing his image.

Mabote detailed his qualms with the post in a since deleted Instagram post containing a statement along with screenshots of a demand letter, delivered to Sunday World by his attorneys.

According to her statement, she was especially offended by an article titled “Hard Times for Killer Queens” in which she says the post hints that she is a “killer queen” who is in the “bedroom role” of rich men, with businessman Edwin. Sodi appears as one of those men.

Mabote later confirmed that she and Sodi are in a “happy, healthy and private relationship” and insisted that they have no business ties.

Sodi has been in the limelight for the past few weeks for his involvement in the controversial case of the multi-million dollar asbestos audit project, after he was publicly arrested and most of his assets seized.

The letter from her lawyers also reveals that she and Sodi “had only been in relationships for no more than a year.”

“I have resorted to seeking legal recourse against Fundudzi Media, the publisher of Sunday World, as their defamatory and derogatory article has since discredited my reputation and my brand, thus affecting my relationships with various brands,” Mabote said in a statement. .

He added that this is a matter that “touches him very closely” as all kinds of accusations are often made against influencers and reportedly affects his business.

According to the letter from his lawyers, the article in question “contains unfounded accusations, is derogatory, defamatory and has since caused reputational damage that is currently affecting their businesses and livelihoods, as several brands have questioned the reputation of our client, which is damaging their long-standing business relationships and may result in the cancellation and non-renewal of business agreements ”.

The letter concludes by demanding a retraction with immediate effect, as well as a front page apology in the next issue of the newspaper.

In addition, Mabote would also like the publication to publish an article, with their contributions, on the “effects and damages caused by the media due to the publication of false and unfounded accusations about how influencers of social networks and women entrepreneurs are defamed and degraded by the term ‘killing queens’ ”.

There is currently no information on whether the two parties have reached an agreement.
