Self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri turned himself in to the Hawks following his wife’s arrest Tuesday morning, the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) revealed in a statement on ECG News Online.
“We are told that the prophet is on his way to the Hawks office to turn himself in. He believes in the country’s justice system and will abide by all mandatory laws, until this entire war is over,” the statement said.
According to the church, which is run by Bushiri, the “prophet” and his wife, Mary Bushiri, were supposed to meet the Hawks at 11:00 on Tuesday, but the Hawks allegedly arrested his wife at their home before the “date.” .
“The Hawks informed the attorneys for our leaders, the Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and the prophet Mary Bushiri, late Monday afternoon that they (Hawks) are requesting the couple to come to their office at 11:00, accompanied by their lawyers, to discuss a topic related to a certain investment.
“We are told, as the prophet and attorneys prepared for the 11:00 appointment, the Hawks went to their home before the 11:00 appointment and arrested the prophet’s wife alone,” the church alleged. .
ECG spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo confirmed the church’s statement.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) issued a statement Tuesday afternoon, saying it had arrested four suspects. This included a pastor, between 25 and 39 years old, for alleged involvement in fraud and money laundering worth R102 million.
The first couple were arrested on Saturday: Willah Mudolo and Zethu Mudolo have since appeared in Pretoria Magistrates Court.
His case was postponed until October 30 to request a formal bond.
The Hawks did not release the identities of the remaining suspects.
